Aroma-therapy is an ancient therapeutic treatment which enhances well being, relieves stress, helps in rejuvenating and regeneration of the human body. It would not be wrong to say that aromatherapy is catching up as a big business not only as beauty care but also to cure all kinds of diseases like migraine, arthritis and even cancer. It is just a matter of analyzing the problem and prescribing appropriate treatment through the natural oils. I would not say that the time has come for aromatherapy to replace medical treatment but rather this treatment is complementary.
Legend has it that the oil of rose was accidentally discovered during the wedding of Emperor Jahangir and Nurjahan. A canal was dug all round the gardens and filled with rose water. The heat caused the oil to separate and when examined it turned out to be an essential oil of rose ! From then on rose oil has occupied an important place in the lives of all. However countries like China, Egypt, Israel, Greece, Italy, Arabia, Europe all have an ancient history of aromatherapy. Aroma has been the way of life.
Aromatherapy essentially uses oils from trees, herbs and fruits which are either extracted or distilled. The oils are blended and then massaged on the skin.
